FAT MONSTER FILMS is an independent visual media production company based in Los Angeles. The company principals (Mark Johnson, Tim Hyten and Luis Sinibaldi) are three very diverse individuals united by a common love of film, storytelling and the creative arts.
Mark Johnson is an ex-trial lawyer who moved to California from the Midwest in 1992 where he established a forensic animation film and first began getting his feet wet with independent filmmaking.
Tim Hyten was a successful touring musician before he began shooting and directing music videos himself. After working on several film and television sets, Tim met legendary director Curtis Harrington in 2005, who served as his personal mentor and confidante until his death in 2007.
Luis Sinibaldi was a successful architect before he was smitten by film and the prospect of making his own productions. Luis quietly accumulated his own collection of high-end film gear and actually designed some of his own, including an award-winning monitor system that is currently used by cinematographers internationally.
Mark, Tim and Luis met fortuitously on a music video set and quickly realized that they shared common goals and interests. Discussions over the next month convinced them that by combining their diverse talents and tools they might be able to reach those shared goals much faster. As a result, FAT MONSTER FILMS was founded and in two short years the company taken on a staggering number of projects including music videos, commercials, reality television, films and promotional spots.
FAT MONSTER has worked with major talents including Daniel Roebuck, Tom Sizemore, Steve Hytner, John Savage, Amanda Plummer and Brian Austin Green to name a few. FAT MONSTER crews have shot on both coasts and in numerous cities in between.
FAT MONSTER is becoming recognized in Hollywood as a team capable of producing high-end production values on a fraction of the budget other production houses require. With the industry in flux and technology changing almost by the month, FAT MONSTER FILMS maintains a “lean and mean” approach that leverages innovation to achieve results on a shoestring budget.
Above all, FAT MONSTER FILMS encourages cooperation and contributions within the independent film community. We regularly lend our services, equipment and talent to our peers so that we can call in favors ourselves when needed. As a result, FAT MONSTER FILMS can assemble a 40-person crew of talented professionals overnight for one-tenth the cost of a comparable industry crew.
In essence, FAT MONSTER FILMS is a ferocious filmmaking cooperative that is dedicated to innovation, storytelling and professional results. We take the process seriously without giving up the joy, passion and fun that drew us to filmmaking in the first place. We think the results we get are the best proof that our philosophy works.
